His hilarious characters and laugh riots have come like monsoons to the deserts. For an industry with pathetic success rate, Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan have filled the dearth for good entertainment. They have given true family entertainers that the Telugu audiences were longing from a while.
For an average cinegoer who wishes to forget his daily life and laugh his guts out, Kona has emerged as a ray of hope. He was one of the ace writers who made Brahmi a hero and have set a formulae for commercial potboilers that many budding directors don’t mind shamelessly copying. Well that’s the importance Kona has given to comedy and their contribution so far has been priceless.
Besides his films, Kona is a man with strong individualistic and rational persona. From voicing out his opinion to calling a spade a spade, Kona has his own identity both off screen and in web world as well. Last week his Pandaga Chesko released and opened to mixed reviews (not because it was an experimental film but indeed a routine commercial film). Most Telugu film lovers and critics rather had complaints over the routine story the film had and some reviews even lampooned the film. But the ace writer came out strong and openly stated out they had made a routine film and thanked the audience for routinely supporting their routine attempt. Well, this has zipped the naysayers’ mouth and his upcoming off-beat films like Shankarabharanam (Crime comedy), Tripura (Geethanjali 2 – Horror comedy), Dictator (Commercial pot-boiler), Untitled project with Gautam Menon and many other films in pipeline where he is writing, producing and presenting films and playing a pivotal role only prove his thirst for versatility.
This alone should speak volumes about his understanding over Telugu cinema, market and his passion for cinema. Way to go Kona! Wishing him good luck on all his future endeavors….
