This 21st century might know Mr Sivaji Rao Gaikwad from just Basha but he was a bright star and a superstar-in-making right from his debut film Apoorva Raagangal (1975). But, we know he was a born star and that born star couldn’t shy off in the khakhee uniform of a bus conductor or a rusty outfit of a coolie while in Bangalore. He gave glamor to whatever he did – be it films or giving away tickets or laying up bricks.
He is one phenomenon that is beyond stories, subjects or any element essential for a movie to perform. It is purely the name ‘Rajini’ which pulls crowd to the theaters. He has seen it all - hits, flops and everything. But, he always strived to deliver 100% entertainment to his fans. And that’s exactly what he tried to do after Kochadaiiyaan (Vikram Simha in Telugu). The much anticipated Lingaa that released on the eve of Superstar’s birthday is successfully running making and breaking records on its way. Well, the release of the film on this 12th of December has turned a big eclipse that no other film release/event could get enough space on Page 3. In fact, other news feeds would have gone green with envy – of course, it is Thalaiva!
Lingaa is racing ahead unprecedentedly with earth shattering records. According to initial trade estimates, Lingaa has minted over Rs 35 crores worldwide on the very first day.
