Director Shankar's highly anticipated Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, delivers a mix of solid mass elements, powerful emotions, and political drama. While it lives up to the expectations of Shankar and Ram Charan fans in many ways, the film also comes with its share of predictable tropes and minor shortcomings. Check out the review here.
Story:
Bobbili Satya Murthy (Srikanth) is the chief minister. When he dies, his son, Mopidevi (SJ Suryah), wants to become the CM, but Satya Murthy's last wish is to see IAS Ram Nandan (Ram Charan) as the CM. Why does Satya Murthy declare Ram Nandan as the Chief Minister of AP? What will Mopi Devi do? How did the political war between Ram Nandan and Mopi Devi go? Who is Appanna? Forms the story of the film.
Performances:
Ram Charan once again proves his versatility with a stellar performance. His portrayal of Appanna, a naive yet determined individual, is heartfelt and reminiscent of his iconic Chittibabu from Rangasthalam. Anjali's role is impactful and emotional, leaving a lasting impression. Her chemistry with Ram Charan and her performance in key scenes elevate the narrative. SJ Suryah shines with his menacing presence, delivering a memorable performance with his signature mannerisms. Kiara Advani plays a significant role in effectively balancing beauty and substance. Actors like Srikanth, Samuthirakhani, Sunil, and Jayaram contribute with notable performances. The rest of the cast made their presence felt.
Technical Aspects:
Dil Raju?s investment is visible in the grandeur of the sets and visuals. The cinematography by Thiru adds richness, capturing the scale of the film effectively. Thaman's background score enhances the film?s emotional and mass appeal, although the songs fall short of Shankar's usual high standards. The editing is neat. Shankar delivers a film that balances mass appeal with political undertones. While his handling of emotions and performances is commendable, some of his trademark stylish action sequences seem missing, which might leave a section of fans wanting more.
Plus Points:
Ram Charan as Appanna
Performances
Music & BGM
Minus Points:
Predictable storyline with some routine elements.
Shankar's Mark Missing
Review:
Game Changer is a mass political drama that thrives on Ram Charan's standout performance and Shankar's trademark emotional storytelling. While it stumbles in areas like predictability and some technical aspects, the film succeeds in keeping the audience engaged with its impactful performances and socially relevant themes. Fans of Ram Charan and Shankar will find plenty to enjoy, and the movie delivers enough mass and emotion to appeal to a family audience.
