After Sammohanam and V, Sudheer Babu and Mohana Krishna Indraganti teamed up for their third film together, Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali. Starring Krithi Shetty as the female lead, this movie has hit the screens today. Check out its review:
Story:
Naveen (Sudheer Babu) is a successful director in the Telugu film industry. While he is working on the story of his new film, he comes across Dr. Alekhya (Krithi Shetty). He immediately decides to cast her as the heroine in his film. Alekhya is an ophthalmologist. She is averse to acting, and there is a reason for it. So, will Naveen be able to convince Alekhya to act? When she does, what will be the repercussions for her family? These elements form the main crux of the movie.
Performances:
Sudheer Babu did complete justice to his role. Though he played the role of a director, he looked more like a handsome actor. His performance was also neat.
Krithi Shetty got a meaty role in this film, but her pale characterization was a letdown. Vennela Kishore and Rahul Ramakrishna were decent in their roles.
Srikanth Iyengar impresses as the heroine's father. Srinivas Avasarala gives comic relief in his brief role.
Technical Departments:
Just like Sammohanam, director Indraganti chose a film backdrop for this movie as well. But the magic in writing is missing in this movie. Though it is good in parts, the film fails to give us a satisfactory feeling after it ends.
The music by Vivek Sagar was a letdown. He gave memorable music for Sammohanam but failed to produce such an album for Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali. Even the background score was disappointing.
The cinematography by PG Vinda is classy. Editing could have been better. The production values are decent.
Review:
Indraganti takes us to the core point of the story at the very beginning of the film. Thus, we get invested in the proceedings pretty early. But he loses momentum after a few minutes. Things don't pick up until the pre-interval episode. The pre-interval and interval episodes are very good. The interval bang raises the curiosity for the second half. However, the second half starts on a dull note and continues at the same pace till the climax. A heart-touching climax will impress us, but we will be left with emptiness after watching the movie. On the whole, Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali is a decent attempt but doesn't engage us throughout. It only works in parts.
Plus Points:
Interval episode
A few scenes in the second half
Minus Points:
Music
Slow-paced Screenplay
Boring narrative in most of the parts
One Line Verdict: Works only in parts
