Ustad Ram Pothineni is back to the theatres with his new film The Warrior. Directed by Lingusamy, this action drama had a simultaneous release in both Tamil and Telugu today. Kriti Shetty played the female lead in it. Here is the review of the film.

Story:
Satya (Ram) is a doctor who comes to Kurnool as an intern. While he is on his internship, Satya finds comes across a major scam related to the hospital. He soon exposes the scam, which angers the local goon Guru (Aadi Pinishetty). What happens when Guru takes on Satya forms the major crux of the movie.

Performances:
Ram is an energetic performer. The biggest advantage for him is he can pull off both class and mass roles. This film gave him a chance to explore these two shades. As a doctor, he reveals his class and funny side. As a tough cop, he enters the mass zone. He did complete justice to his character.

Kriti Shetty has nothing to offer in this movie. She is a typical commercial heroine who is confined only to romantic scenes and songs. Aadi Pinishetty plays the role of a typical loud-mouthed commercial villain. His character as a villain was better in Sarrainodu. In this film, it is just bland. Others like Nadhiya, Ajay and Jayaprakash had nothing substantial to play in the movie.

Technical Aspects:
Director Lingusamy is a big name in Tamil cinema. However, he is going through a rough patch over the last few years. He planned to make a strong comeback with this movie but his story is very routine and the screenplay is predictable as well. His writing lacks the punch of making The Warrior a successful commercial potboiler.

Music director Devi Sri Prasad gave commercial tracks for this film. Bullet and Whistle songs will appeal to the masses. His background score was not that great. Sujith Vassudevan?s cinematography was decent. Naveen Nooli's editing could have been better though. The production values are good.

Review:
Right from the beginning, The Warrior fails to engage the audience with its proceedings. Everything is routine and makes you feel that you watched these scenes a decade ago. The way things are built until the powerful interval block is very bland. Thus, the interval block doesn't give us a high.

Once the villain is introduced before the interval, things become highly predictable. Though some of the scenes are shot well, poor writing makes them fail on the big screen. On the whole, The Warrior is a routine mass drama with a boring first half and a bearable second half. Only Ram is the saving grace of this movie.
