Collection King Mohan Babu is back as a lead hero after a long time with his new outing Son of India. Directed by Diamond Ratna Babu, this movie featured Pragya Jaiswal, Meena, and Srikanth in the other prominent roles. It has hit the screens today. Here is the review of it.

Story:
Kadiyam Babji aka Virupaksha (Mohan Babu) is a vigilante who is on a kidnapping spree. He kidnaps people from various professions. Soon, the government appoints a National Intelligence Agency (NIA) officer Ira (Pragya Jaiswal) to trace Virupaksha.

Did Ira manage to catch Virupaksha? What is Virupaksha's motive behind all these kidnappings? Who is he in the first place? To know the answers, you have to watch the film.

Performances:
It has been a long time since we saw Mohan Babu as a lead hero on the big screen. His persona is great but there is some discomfort in his acting in a few scenes. However, his dialogue delivery, which he is known for, is impeccable as always. Pragya Jaiswal got a meaty role but is failed with bad writing. Meena, Srikanth, and Naresh were wasted in their less-prominent characters. Comedians like Ali, Vennela Kishore, Sunil, and Bandla Ganesh failed to deliver any laughs in the theatre.

Technical Aspects:
Director Diamond Ratna Babu also happens to be the writer of the movie. He has a decent idea but his lackluster execution spoils the entire film. Better writing could have made Son of India at least a bearable outing to watch. The music by Ilaiyaraja is decent but not that great. At some points, we feel like songs and background scores are very outdated. Sarvesh Murari's cinematography is not up to the mark. The film's production values are not great as well. Thus, it looks like an amateur product on the big screen. Though the film's runtime is less than one and a half hours, we feel it is lengthy and cannot stop ourselves from blaming the choppy editing.

Analysis:
Son of India is basically a vigilante action drama that deals with the revenge story of a father. Later on, the film tries to give a message about a bigger issue. In the beginning, everyone wonders what is the motive behind all the kidnappings. The reason will be revealed in a flashback episode. The makers could have showcased the flashback episode more effectively to create an impact. But they fail to do so. As a result, the proceedings seem very flat throughout the film. Also, the makers tried to experiment a bit by showcasing only Mohan Babu and no one else in most of the film. This experiment proved to be an utter failure and tests the patience of the audience. On the whole, Son of India had a decent idea but the horrible execution makes it a horrendous watch.

Plus Points:
Mohan Babu
Short run time

Minus Points:
Horrible execution
Done-to-the-death screenplay and narration
Poor characterizations
Failed Experiment in making

One Line Verdict: Strictly Stay Away
