Dil Raju's nephew Ashish Reddy made his debut as a hero in the new Telugu film Rowdy Boys. Anupama Parameswaran played the film's female lead. The film is directed by Sree Harsha Konuganti. The film was released today and check out the review of the film here.
Story:
Rowdy Boys tells us the story of Akshay (Ashish Reddy) and Kavya (Anupama Parameswaran) in the backdrop of gang wars between students of Engineering and Medical college students. The film traces the journey of them falling in love and meeting a conflict. What is that conflict? How did they fall in love despite being from different backgrounds? What does the college have to do about it? What happens in the end? Forms the film's story.
Performances:
Ashish, the nephew of Dil Raju, makes his debut with Rowdy Boys. Ashish has good and decent looks and he fits in the character of the guy next door. In this particular role, his performance looks a little overboard. However, he ensured to make a positive impression. He is good with fights as well as dance. If he chooses the right characters by not getting into a routine track, he has a bright career ahead.
Anupama Parameshwaran has bought a lot of attention to the film by playing the female lead in it. She is good in her character and her chemistry with the lead actor is nice. Vikram, Karthik Ratnam, Srikanth Aiyengar, Tej Kurapati, Komalee Prasad and others are decent. The rest of the cast is fine.
Technical Aspects:
Devi Sri Prasad takes the major credit for bringing a shine to the film with his music and score. The songs failed to impress before the film's release but the score is average. The film has three cinematographers Madhie, Vijay Chakravarthi, and Guhan. However, the visuals are grand and appealing. The visuals are impressive too. Madhu's editing is good. The story has no appeal and so is the screenplay. The writing completely lacks the grip. The production values are lavish.
Verdict:
Rowdy Boys is one film that has a limited appeal. Except for the youth audience, others may skip it. The film arrived to theatres during the festival season and it offers a story that hardly impresses. The screenplay goes out of track in between. The romantic track could have been handled well. The emotion is missing in the film. The first half starts off on an interesting note and tempo but it gets fizzled out in no time. The debut hero Ashish is good enough to score pass marks but on the whole, the film fails to deliver a punch. Even the youth might also find it non-appealing, considering its flaws.
Plus Points:
Performances
BGM
Dialogues
Minus Points:
Lack of emotion
Limited appeal
Story
Final Verdict: Rowdy Boys fails to entertain
