Natural Star Nani has come up with a theatrical release after more than two years. His latest flick Shyam Singha Roy had hit the screens across the globe today. Starring Krithi Shetty and Sai Pallavi as the female leads, this movie is directed by Rahul Sankrityan. Check out its review here:

Story:
Vasudev (Nani) is an aspiring filmmaker. He makes a short film titled 'Varnam' with Keerthy (Krithi) as the leading lady. The movie gets huge accolades. Vasudev then decides to make a feature film with Keerthy. When things start to turn out well for Vasudev, he gets arrested for copyright infringement. He gets accused of lifting stories written by Shyam Singha Roy. Who is Shyam Singha Roy? What is his connection with Vasudev? Did Vasudev really steal the works of Roy? To know these answers, you have to watch the film.

Performances:
We all know about the acting prowess of Nani. Shyam Singha Roy remains another feather in his hat. He is exceptional in both roles. Especially, he delivered a stunning performance in the role of Shyam Singha Roy and deserves many accolades for it.

Sai Pallavi is another major asset for the movie. Her role of Maitreyee is very crucial to the film and she carried it with ease. Her dances are another highlight of the film. Krithi Shetty looked good as the modern-day young lady. Madonna Sebastian was given a brief role but she was good. Rest others have given their best to their respective roles.

Technical Departments:
Director Rahul Sankrtiyan should be appreciated for coming up with such a nuanced story. His screenplay is brilliant and so is his narration. He filled the film with aesthetic values. His technical prowess makes him one of the interesting filmmakers of this generation.

The cinematography is exquisite. Both the modern-day and the period visuals were captured well. The Bengali atmosphere was brought out very well in the second half. The production design is spell-bounding and so are the production values as well. Music by Mickey J Meyer is another highlight of the movie. His background score elevated a lot of scenes in the film. The editing is good too.

Analysis:
Shyam Singha Roy is a reincarnation drama that is laced with some crafted narrative skills. Director Rahul Sankrityan knew each and every aspect of how to narrate this story to the audience. He excelled in most of the parts. However, he should have been a little bit careful in the pace of the film. The first half is breezy with some comedy scenes. The second half is the major highlight. Nani and Sai Pallavi's performances literally lit up the screen. On the whole, Shyam Singha Roy is a very good attempt and can be watched for sure in the theatres during this festive weekend.

Plus Points:
Nani and Sai Pallavi
Cinematography
Background Score
Poetic narration

Minus Points:
Slow-paced
A few unnecessary scenes in the second half

Final Verdict: Nani is back with a bang
