Sushant Singh Rajput's last film Dil Bechara released today on Hotstar. Touted to be the remake of 'Fault in our Stars', the movie marks the debut of star casting director Mukesh Chhabra. Sanjana Sanghi plays the leading lady in the movie. Read on to know the film's review.

Story:
Kizie Basu (Sanjana Sanghi) is a cancer patient, who might lose her life anytime. She meets Immanuel Rajkumar Junior aka Manny (Sushant Singh Rajput) who suffered from osteosarcoma and is in remission. They begin a friendship and slowly develop feelings for another, with a reality that they might leave the world anytime. The story is all about what they did together and how did they live 'life' amidst the bitter truth of leaving the world, one day!

Performances:
Sushanth Singh Rajput's performance is effortless in the film. He plays a fun-loving guy who has a smile always. But, when his infection worsens, he turns dull and makes us feel for him. He is so brilliant in the movie and unfortunately, it is the last time we see him on the big screen.

Sanjana Sanghi who earlier acted in Rockstar, Hindi Medium, and other films played a full-length heroine in the film. Sanjana looks charming and her smile is so much reassuring of life. Her look design is on point. She is so honest and true to her performance. She too puts an effortless performance in the movie. Swastika Mukherjee as Sanjana's mother and Saswata Chatterjee as Sanjana's father brings a lot of freshness to the movie. Since the heroine is born into a Bengali family, the makers did the best thing to rope in Bengali actors. Both Swastika and Saswata have given their best and helped the leads. Although Saif Ali Khan makes a tiny presence in the movie, his role hardly makes any impact. The rest of the cast made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:
Dil Bechara's music is done by AR Rahman. Apart from the title song, no other song stays in mind. At the same time, the other songs also sound pleasant and go well with the montages. The background score is simple and fine. The cinematography of the film is amazing. The framing of some scenes, especially in the heroine's home came out well. The coloring is very good.

The production design is beautiful. The styling is awesome too! Picking Jamshedpur as the primary location is the best thing that the makers did as it added a lot of newness to the movie. The editing is fine. It looks like the makers chopped out a lot of scenes to make the film crisp, for around 140 minutes, for the OTT release. However, it is a good move. The production values are lavish!

Review:
Dil Bechara is based on the novel and the film, The Fault in Our Stars. Since the novel and the original film are widely popular, everyone knew that the film is going to have a sad ending. But, the beauty in writing is to make you fall in love with the characters of the movie.

Both Sushant and Sanjana's characterizations are penned very well in the movie. You just want to see them more. But, at the same time, the emotion between both leads is not translated well to the audiences. The Paris trip in the film tries to add something to the film but it turns out to be an unnecessary sequence. With both the leads going to die someday, the director made sure the audiences are a part of their journey. But, the journey is not so great as the leads just to have random conversations and pass time.

A lot of elimination happened from the original. You won't feel bored but at the same time, you don't find yourself fully connected to the emotional journey of the characters which is the biggest drawback. Other than that, Dil Bechara is a film you won't regret watching with Sushant Singh Rajput entertaining you on the screen.
