Manmadhudu 2 is the latest Telugu movie in the theatres. The makers promoted the film a lot, and Nagarjuna pinned many hopes that the film will become a big hit. There is no connection to Manmadhudu and Manmadhudu 2. The movie is the official remake of a French movie. Rahul Ravindran is the director of the movie. Rakul Preet Singh is the heroine. Check out the review of the film here.
Plot:
Sam (Nagarjuna) is a perfumer living in Portugal. He loves women and hates getting married. He makes love to women and enjoys life as it comes. But his family wants him to get married and he tries to avoid it. One fine day, he plans something with Avantika (Rakul). He introduces her as his girlfriend. Why did he do this? What happens then? Forms the story of the movie.
Performances:
Nagarjuna Akkineni didn't look great on the screen. Although he looked good on the posters, he failed to catch the attention in the film. He is not looking 60 but definitely failed to fit in this role. Still, in terms of performance, Nagarjuna has given his usual best. Rakul Preet looked stylish and beautiful. At times, her makeup turned out to be a villain for her in some scenes.
The chemistry between Nagarjuna and Rakul also didn't work as expected. Vennela Kishore got a meaty role in this film, and he has delivered his best. Rao Ramesh and Lakshmi acted naturally. Devadarshini justified her role. Jhansi delivered a decent performance. Samantha Akkineni and Keerthi Suresh's special appearances are decent.
Technical Aspects:
The Production values by Nagarjuna Akkineni are vibrant. Music by Chaitan Bhardwaj is a big failure. Not even a single song has impressed the listeners and they didn't seem to be great, on the screen. The background score didn't suit the mood of the movie. At times, the BGM sounds like watching a thriller movie. Cinematography by M Sukumar is good. Editing by Chota K Prasad is decent.
Review:
Rahul Ravindran has no story for this movie. They just took the plot from the original and laced a screenplay. As a story, the film has nothing to offer. Despite being the sequel, there is no connection between 'Manmadhudu' and 'Manmadhudu 2'. With 'Chi La Sow' movie itself, Rahul Ravindran has proved that he can handle love stories well but he failed with a family drama now. When there is no proper story, the director must make the magic work with screenplay and the screenplay in the movie is pale with constant highs and downs. One has no clue about why a particular scene comes. Rao Ramesh's character is of no use and he actually didn't contribute anything to the plot.
The movie starts on an interesting note, and the entire first half is filled with comedy scenes which really worked. Then, the second half encountered a downfall. When compared with the first half, the second half becomes slow, and the director has failed to make it tight and engaging for the audiences. The dragged scenes forced emotions and artificial setup fails to impress. Overall, 'Manmadhudu 2' is an utter disappointment.
Plus Points:
Comedy from Vennela Kishore & Brahmanandam
Performances
Minus Points:
Forced Emotions
Narrative Pace
Final Verdict: A Disappointment with a Superhit's Title!
