In India, politics & cinema are the things which can catch the attention of the general public as these two things are hugely influential on the daily routines of the public.
Currently, Vijay Deverakonda is also doing the same of grabbing the attention of the public by coming up with a film called NOTA based on the politics subject. With the title and subject, it got the necessary attention of the public and especially in Telangana where the elections are on the foresight.
Well, the title & subject of this film made some of the political parties in Telangana to file a petition against the release of NOTA and fortunately, it is releasing on the announced date after the court’s ruling.
Keeping all these controversies aside, does this NOTA movie continue the success streak of Vijay at the movies or not is discussed below in the NOTA review.
Story:
Vasudev(Nassar) resigns from his Chief Minister post and nominates his son Varun (Vijay Deverakonda) in his place as an Interim Chief Minister to face the trial in a scam related case. Well, this story gets a twist when Vasudev gets seriously injured in a murder attempt on him. This incident makes Varun take the Chief Minister position seriously and starts acting to the ongoing situation.
What are the consequences that he had faced while started doing his job as a CM? Does he able to deliver his best to the CM position or not?
These questions unfold on the silver screen.
Actors & Performances:
Vijay Deverakonda: Vijay’s acting as the youngest Chief Minister is so natural. Once again he gave his best to the role with his innocent & raw expressions.
Nassar: This seasoned actor got a meaty role in the film. Except for his bad prosthetic makeup, his acting is good in the entire movie.
Sathyaraj: He played a senior journalist role in the movie and his character is one among the key roles in the film. His performance is good as a journalist.
Mehreen, Sanchana Natarajan & Priyadarshi got very less screen space compared to the above.
Analysis:
Writer Shan Karrupusamy prepared this script with the inspiration of some real incidents that got happened in the recent past at Tamil Nadu state. Well, those incidents are enough for an interesting story plot to make a film.
However, that story doesn’t look good when the screenplay lacks the impact of a political thriller. It is the same thing happened with NOTA. The film starts interestingly with a politically illiterate person becoming a CM of a state and this interest gradually goes down as the weak screenplay eclipses the flow of the movie. Anand Shankar & Shan fails in screenplay writing for Telugu version.
Coming to the Telugu version, noted Telugu actors are missing from the film is the first disappointment for the audience and the nativity issues in scenes & dialogues & screenplay treatment made the audiences to lose the interest on the film.
NOTA has got the best chance to work in Tamil Nadu as compared to two Telugu states.
Technical Aspects:
Production values from Studio Green are grand. BGM from Sam C.S. sets up the tone in certain important sequences. The cinematography from Santhana Krishnan is good.
Plus Points
+ Story Plot
+ Vijay
Minus Points
- Nativity Problem
- Weak Screenplay
Final Verdict: Vijay Deverakonda’s Films
A. Pelli Choopulu
B. Arjun Reddy
C. Geetha Govindam
D. None Of The Above
