A top class technician- AR Murugadoss collaboration with a top class actor- Mahesh Babu drives us to expect a blockbuster material. Being it a bilingual movie, Spyder is considered as an extraordinary debut for Mahesh Babu in Tamil industry. Amidst a huge hype and sky-high expectations, Spyder hit the theaters today. Read on for the full review of the movie.
Story Plot:
Siva (Mahesh Babu) is an employee who works in the intelligence bureau. With the aid of technology, he silently keeps a track of the people's sufferings and helps them when in danger. Though this is an illegal thing to do, he does that to help and relieve people who are in danger.
In this frame of context, he comes across a situation when he finds out that a person named Bhairavudu (SJ Surya) is involved in the mass killing. How he deals to fight with this person, the reason behind the killings, how it is solved etc to be watched in the theaters only.
Performances:
Mahesh Babu perfectly suited to the role of Siva and he perfectly adapted the dynamics that required for the role. His killing looks will definitely wins the audience hearts and he gave his best for the role.
Rakul Preet: Unfortunately, her role & screen presence role is very much short and it may turns out to be the disappointing thing for Rakul’s fans.
SJ Surya: He is the surprise factor for you in theaters. He played the role of person who is having a high Sadistic Personality Disorder (SPD). His dialogue delivery and sadistic expressions will entertain you and it is rare to see a good director as a best actor on screen.
Analysis:
A R Murugadoss- this name is enough to attract the audience to theaters and he earned it with his extraordinary talent. Coming to this film, Murugadoss tried to touch ‘humanity’ with this script and he gives us a thriller coated pill of- “Like the People around you and Share the happiness with everyone”.
He webbed the screenplay of SPYder in the pattern of Tom & Jerry. Unfortunately, he somehow missed the impact of giving the necessary thrill in the important sequences. Generally, these kinds of thriller subjects glorifies as antagonist wins over protagonist in some sequences and it becomes the most thrilling when protagonist finished antagonist by the end. Well, this SPYder has only the sequence of Hero overshadows Villain in every sequence and it decreases that extra thrill in the movie.
However, Murugadoss didn’t loss his grip over his trademark scenes in the movies- ‘6 ladies sequence’ (it has resemblance to the 12 member sequence in Thuppakki).
Technical Aspects:
Cinematography by Santosh Sivan is at top notch and his enormous talent gives you the right mood in the theaters. BGM by Harris Jayaraj is apt for the film. Production values are grand.
Plus Points:
+ Mahesh
+ Cinematography
+ Story
+ SJ Surya
+ 6 Ladies Sequence
Minus Points:
- Songs
- Thrilling impact is lesser
Final Verdict:
SPYder is a good attempt and it may not attract the majority audience.
