To overcome the crisis of Coronavirus, several companies and governments have announced a pay cut for its employees. Every industry has been impacted by the outbreak of the pandemic and the entertainment industry is no exemption. The COVID-19 has halted all film shoots, releases and it is building up huge pressure on producers, actors, and directors. To bring the producers out of this worrying situation, our film actors must be a little responsible and should get ready to take a pay cut.
Yes, a producer is considered as the beginning and end of any film. The film industry cannot see tomorrow if producers are not taken care of. Also, nobody can estimable the loss of our producers during this crisis. We can assess the numbers (loss) after the situation gets improved. In the meanwhile, our actors have the responsibility of ensuring full support to their producers and directors. Producers must have already finalized remuneration for movies that are in the making. It is time for our heroes to voluntarily take some pay cut to save the producers in many ways.
It is a usual tendency of actors to increase remuneration if their previous flick strikes gold at the box-office. However, few actors do not bring down salary even if their previous movie ends up as a disaster. This time, star heroes should offer a rebate to producers to save them for long. Films, which are scheduled for March and April, have been put on hold and summer releases may also face a huge problem. Star heroes who already received their pay for these movies should consider returning some part of their salary. If the film becomes a hit at the box-office, our Tollywood producers will be more than ready to offer expensive gifts and return the remuneration back to actors.
Like how our actors have come forward to donate for the efforts to fight COVID-19, they should also rescue producers who’re already in deep trouble. Our stars should set an example by taking a pay cut during turbulent times like these.
