Thalavi, a film on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, is being made by Kollywood director AL Vijay and it casts B-town star Kangana Ranaut in the lead role. The film is being billed as one of the authorised biopic of Jayalalithaa and her life in movies and politics. The movie will, therefore, feature a number of star actors including Aravind Swamy as veteran movie star MGR and now award winning actor Prakash Raaj as former DMK chief Karunanidhi.
The film is set to chronicle Jayalalithaa's political genius and incomparable career, and the impact and lasting influence she has had on people of Tamil Nadu around the world.
Kangana, who is taking up special classes to act like Jayalalithaa, is excited to be part of this project. In the past, Prakash Raaj has acted in Mani Ratnam's political drama Iruvar (1997), which is loosely based on MGR-Karunanidhi story.
Apart from Thalaivi, Gautam Vasudev Menon is making a biopic webseries on Jayalalithaa, titled Queen. The 11-episode webseries has Ramya Krishna portraying Jayalalithaa's role while actor Indrajith Sukumaran is confirmed as MGR.
