It's already known that Kollywood superhit film '96' is being remade into Telugu. While the Tamil version of the film featured Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha, Telugu remake will have Sharwanand and Samantha in lead roles. Star producer Dil Raju is going to bankroll this project, which reportedly has been named as 'Janaki Devi'.
Prem Kumar, director of the original version, will be directing it in Telugu as well. The principal shooting of the film will begin shortly and the makers are planning to release it in August, this year. As this script requires lead characters in two age groups, the makers have conducted an audition for artists look close to Sharwanand and Samantha.
They also have finished a test shoot on newly recruited actors. Further details about this project are expected soon.
