Finally, the much awaited and long pending list of winners for the Nandi Awards has been announced and it has already garnered some controversy. While grandeur director Gunasekhar is fuming at the choice of winners, another controversy has been about the best film award.
Well, it has been given to Legend featuring Nandamuri Natasimham Balakrishna. The protest is, the film has projected a large scale of feudalism and violence and it got Nandi award. Ideally speaking ’Manam’ should get the best film award given the family emotions and clean entertainment it provided.
The well known critic Mahesh Kathi also brought up this issue and TV channels have also made a big issue of it. One of the jury members Prasanna Kumar also replied citing ‘Legend’ focused on female foeticide. In response, the TV host Rajnikanth quipped it is just a scene and nobody even remembers that. Overall, there was nothing much to defend about this decision. Strange but true!
