Tamil Nadu’s former Chief Minister (late) Jayalalithaa’s sudden demise shook the entire nation. Though most of the Chennaiites are busy dealing with Vardah aftermath, a section is trying to drill down into her death and the corresponding medical care.
As part of this, an enthusiast tried to know about the medical expenses of Jayalalithaa during her 75 day stay at Apollo Hospitals through RTI act. Quite shockingly, the final bill amount has been reportedly quoted as Rs 80 Cr. The Hospital authorities issued a bill that included the visit expenses of Dr. Richard John Beale (from London Bridge Hospital) and expert physiotherapists from Singapore as well. Besides this, the Hospital authorities reportedly vacated the entire second floor (where Jayalalithaa has been undergoing treatment for the entire 75 days period) and the corresponding floor rentals and expenses were also billed into it.
Generally, the state & central governments should bear the medical expenses of any Chief Minister’s health issues. Well, we need to wait and see as to who'll bear this heft amount!
