Dharma Yogi is an upcoming action film starring Dhanush, Trisha and Anupama Parameshwaran in lead roles. The complete lyrics are penned by Rama Jogayya Sastry.Music for the film is composed by Kabali fame Santhosh Narayanan and here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:
The funky album begins with Ey Dingiri with timely Jazz and retro touches. The dholak touch as the song progresses is quite interesting and experimental. Lyrics have a folkish tinge and impressive riffs ably support the song. The song progresses in a storytelling fashion with swift tempo.
Lali Jojo is a relaxing lullaby with stunning chord progression and strings. The beautiful symphony like prelude paves the way for a beautiful melody which takes the listener to a bygone era of bliss. The lyrics do not have dubbing flavor anywhere and the entire credit goes to Rama Jogayya Sastry for the same. The song has optimism blended with inexplicable eeriness as well.
A feisty number Yogi arrives next with conversational style lead tune and blended with folk loops. The jazz drumming is perfectly blended with cool trumpets. The peppy nadaswaram also joins the fun party with coolness. The interludes have increased energy levels with amazing fervor.
Puvvula Maasam is a trance like duet with soft vocals of Shwetha Mohan and ably supported by delicate strings and mild treble. The chord progression is also quite vivid with imagination. The song has great scope and the composer explores it completely. Interestingly, even this song follows the storytelling format with flawlessness.
The finale gets even enjoyable with Yerra Kaaram – a raw folk number which elevates the heroics in the so called Santhosh Narayanan way. The words used are quite folkish and impressive. The folk rhythm is another highlight of the song. The song has an inevitable mass appeal with a experimental tinge.
Verdict:
Dharma Yogi is a fun filled album all the more enjoyable with impressive lyrics.
