Saahasam Swaasaga Saagipo is one of the most awaited albums this season thanks to the brilliant breezy combo of Naga Chaitanya- A.R.Rahman and Gautam Menon striking again after the mesmerizing film Ye Maaya Chesave. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:
The album begins on a high end note with Shokkila- an exquisite rap number sung by Aditya Rao, ADK and Sri Rastol. The song speaks of intricate philosophy with impressive lyrics by Rakendu Mouli. The Rap portion also speaks of style and persona in the midst of foot tapping beats and strange Arabic flavor in between! Definitely a new age hero intro song in Tollywood! Watch out for the variations in the rhythm section which would challenge the listener’s senses!
Kannula Mundhe on the contrary is a breezy number with Reggae styled singing by Haricharan and lovely sounding Chinmayi. Krishna Chaitanya’s introspective lyrics do the job perfectly and the slow jam beats offer like an icing on the cake. The song has an admirable classic flavor despite the modern essence. It would surely set the listener to a peculiar groove and laid back mood. A special mention should be needed for the lyrics because they breathe Telugu nativity despite being a bilingual!
The album spreads its musical travel wings with Chakori–a perfect road song which doesn’t sound hurried or loud at any point of time. Ananth Sriram who wrote some great lyrics for Ye Maaya Chesave strikes the bull’s eye once again with poetic lyrics and perfect usage of words. This song carries the life and soul of the film! The riveting carnatic violin solo pays a memorable tribute to the eternal Navaragamalika varnam featuring Raagas Yadakula Kambhoji and Sri Raagam.
Things get better when the otherwise aggressive singer Vijay Prakash renders a laid back melody Thaanu Nenu- a casual conversational number with simple yet thought provoking lyrics by Ananth Sriram. The fantastic comparisons act like a lifeline of the lyrics and the yesteryear styled orchestration gives another dimension to the composition. AR Rahman redefines the word feel good with this number! As the song progresses, various musical as well as lyrical layers are explored with an air of casual brilliance.
The finale hits right on time with the already popular single Vellipomakey by the master singer Sid Sriram and ADK. The Hip-Hop riffs suit Sid’s voice which such conviction that it would intrigue the listener. Sreejo’s lyrics are like a character’s monologue which is a treat to hear! The song would offer a newfound meaning for a pathos song of an estranged lover.
Verdict:
Saahasam Swaasaga Saagipo is a modern marvel from the striking combo once again! Gautam Menon’s association with AR Rahman always strikes gold- this time it does with impressive lyrics as well! A straightforward winner!
