'Aggressive and Violent'-RGV's Attack Audio Review

Attack is an upcoming action flick starring Manchu Manoj, Jagapati Babu, Surabhi and Prakash Raj in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Ravi Shankar and lyrics are penned by Sirasri. The film is directed by maverick Ram Gopal Varma. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:

The album begins on a serious note with Raktapu Chukkalu which drives a parallel between celebrations and violence. Sirasri’s peculiar lyrics suit the song’s scenario quite well. The song is high on energy levels and reminds the genre of RGV’s earlier flick Rakta Charitra. The entire orchestration is quite eerie with occasional dose of electric guitars and rhythm sections.

Prabhum Prardhanam is an angry revenge number sung by Srikanth, Swarag and Sai Charan. The eeriness which first track created comes to full flow in this composition. This song again draws an interesting parallel with so called Shiva tatvam and aggressive violence. The tune is pretty much straightforward with little scope of improvisation.

It is an interesting composition Nayanni Adugutha which starts off with RGV’s voice over about his perception of Hindu Epic Mahabharata. Swarag and Keerthan’s mellowed vocals slowly turn into angry tone with ominous strings and chord progression. The song is comparatively less in duration and focuses more on the emotive aspects.

Dharmaraju Oodadani is a full fledged philosophical take on Mahabharata in the so called RGV style. Sirasri’s impressive lyrics make a lasting impact. However, the song is pretty linear with minimal scope of novelty. In short, the song offers a new motto for living life with less prejudices and more defence.

The theme song occurs in a remix version with Dharmaraju Oodadani which sounds more appealing than the original for its additional guitar layers and House riffs. The eeriness which is so default for this album is retained in this version as well.

The album ends on a violent fervor with Chaavudura Paga which yet again focuses on the anger and revenge aspect instead of musical nuances. Ramky and Uma Neha deliver what’s perfect for this number. Sirasri does a neat job in the lyrics department.

Verdict:
Attack is an album which fits in RGV’s new age genre of revenge dramas and aggressive violence. Nevertheless, it has less to offer in musical aspects but impressive lyrics save it from monotony.
