Plot:
Chandu, a debutant director making a film titled Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini narrates the story of his friends, childhood and especially the love story of Krishna (Sudheer Babu) and Radha (Nanditha Raj). Radha who enters into the life of Krishna at teens leaves a special mark. But a series of unfortunate incidents keep Krishna away from confessing his love to Radha for years together. How did Krishna overcome all the odds and express his love and what happened next? Well that’s for us to find out.
Performances:
Sudheer Babu: This film is Sudheer Babu’s fitting reply to naysayers disapproving of his talent and caliber. He just makes you fall in love with the role of ‘Krishna’ an innocent, sincere and honest lover, so effortlessly. And on par with his act, he ensures that he delivers in terms of dances as well.
Nanditha Raj: She gave her best to get under the skin of the reserved village belle role of Radha and struck an endearing chemistry with Sudheer Babu in the songs.
Posani: The eminent actor played a pivotal role in the film and he is an absolute entertainer in the limited role he got.
Vikram Sahadev & Annie: This teen couple were absolutely endearing in the film. Vikram Sahadev, the son of Lagadapati Sridhar won brownie points along with senior co-star Annie.
The rest of the cast including Pragathi, Giri Babu and others have done a decent job in this romantic entertainer.
Direction:
Debutant director Chandru who has remade his Charminar as KKI chose to stay loyal to his story with an unwavering attitude towards the commercial demands of our mainstream Telugu cinema. As the name explains, Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini talks about the relationship of teachers-students and above all, the magic of unconditional love rather emotionally but with an orthodox treatment.
For the new age cinephiles, this love story might not strike the chord instantly but the emotional content in the film is the knight in the shining armor for the film. A good premise, emotional content, engaging narration and intense performances of the lead cast turn Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini into a decent watch. However, the narrative completely relies upon performances with a mediocre blend of songs and ignores the contemporary sensibilities of youth today. On the other hand, the overall pace of the film can be a concern especially in the lethargic second half and the dialogues could have been far better. But the last 15mins can drive you totally emotional thereby changing your opinion over the film.
Besides this, KKI is a whiff of fresh air in these monsoons for those who are vexed up with these WhatsApp and Facebook love stories and is a real time-machine for those who want to get transported into the ideal world where education wasn’t a concept based business, teachers & students were a part of the extended family and where friendship knew no status and love knew no limitations.
Merits:
- Intense performances of lead cast especially Sudheer Babu, Nanditha Raj & Posani.
- Good Premise and engaging Narration.
- Good Music.
- The emotional connect in the film.
- The hale and healthy dose of entertainment might impress certain sect of audience.
De-merits:
- The cinematography and editing could have been better.
Music:
Music by ace Kannada composer Hari is breezy and versatile and his back ground score was equally appealing. However the animation by Element 6 Vfx & Animation Studios in the Tuhi Tuhi song was impressive.
Others:
The special appearances of Rana and Naga Chaitanya were petty but story-driven.
Verdict:
Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini is a story that talks about timeless unconditional love taking you down the memory lane with a high emotional connect and orthodox treatment. For all who those who fancy or love such love stories, KKI is a must watch but for the rest, it might be just a onetime watch!
