Aagadu is an upcoming action packed entertainer starring Superstar Mahesh Babu, Tamannah, Nassar and Brahmanandam in the lead roles. The film features a special item song sung and performed by Shruti Hassan as well. After the tremendous success of Dookudu, Mahesh Babu- Thaman- Srinu Vaitla trio is back again. Here is an iQlik exclusive music review of the album:
The album begins with a high voltage solo Aagadu sung by the extremely talented Shankar Mahadevan. It is high on energy with paced up rhythm section and groovy electric guitars. The inevitable Dookudu title song traces are clearly evident in this song. Thaman makes use of his regular orchestration formula laden with trumpets and good percussion work.
Aaja Saroja follows in contrast with mellowed guitar and competent bass guitar sections. The string section takes a front seat this time and it is completely the vocalist Rahul Nambiar’s show! In the midst of sweet guitar chord progressions, the usage of ghatam is quite interestingly done for this composition.
It is time for a funky number with Bhel Poori in the presence of electronic synthesizers and folksy beats. Rahul Nambiar sings a totally different track now along with Mansi- who gives her best needed. The guitar chord progressions are done well to compliment the desi touches throughout.
The much awaited Shruti Hassan’s item song Junction Lo arrives next with increased pace and energy levels. The usage of 80s sequencing and fun filled percussions dominate the track compared to the vocalists.
Naari Narari is sung by Thaman and Divya with good vigor but the track has the irresistible resemblance with the chartbuster song Dethadi from Dookudu. However, it is the trance like ambience with good mixing which keeps the track strong.
The album arrives to a grand finale with an instrumental track Theme of Aagadu which features Mahesh Babu’s punch dialogues in the film. The percussions are essentially a blend of House Mix and Local Percussions.
Verdict:
Aagadu is an entertaining album which lives up to what the hit trio combination of Mahesh- Thaman- Srinu Vaitla can deliver. However, the album is high on commercial tracks compared to melodies.
