The Tamil film industry is currently embroiled in a controversy surrounding movie reviews. The Producers' Council has long raised concerns, claiming that reviews shared from theaters on the day of a film's release, especially those posted on social media, are causing them significant financial losses.

A few days ago, the council even decided to address the issue. However, the Madras High Court has now delivered a surprising verdict against their stance.

During a hearing on Tuesday, the court ruled against the Producers' Council. The court stated that reviews cannot be banned unless there is concrete evidence proving that reviewers intentionally caused harm to the film’s success.

Furthermore, the court clarified that legal action should only be pursued in cases where intentional damage can be demonstrated. The Madras High Court also directed YouTube channels to explain their review guidelines but declined to impose a blanket stay on film reviews.
