Sai Pallavi is returning to the big screen after a long time with the Tamil movie Amaran. Ahead of its release, #BoycottSaiPallavi has been trending on social media. If you are wondering why this trend was started, it is because of the actress' controversial comments from a couple of years ago.

In an old interview during the promotion of Virata Parvam, Sai Pallavi stated that if Hindus being killed in the Kashmir Genocide is wrong, killing Muslims and chanting "Jai Sriram" is also wrong. These remarks sparked a huge controversy back then where right-wing supporters lashed out at Sai Pallavi.

In the same interview, she stated that just like how we hate Pakistanis, they also think that Indian army men are terrorists. These statements are now going viral on social media, where netizens are calling Sai Pallavi a Hinduphobe and demanding to ban her from the film industry. They are also demanding her to apologise for her statements.

These comments are being brought to limelight once again especially when Sai Pallavi is coming up with a film having the army background. Amaran is the film based on the true-life story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, a commissioned officer in the Indian Army`s Rajput Regiment, who was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his valor during a counterterrorism operation while on deputation to the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion in Jammu and Kashmir.

Yesterday, Sai Pallavi also visited the National War Memorial and posted pictures from there.

"I wanted to visit the #NationalWarMemorial before starting the promotions for #Amaran. This sacred temple, houses thousands of “brick-like-tablets” in the memory of every Braveheart, who has laid down their lives for us. I was brimming with emotions while paying respect to Major Mukund Varadarajan AC (P) and Sepoy Vikram Singh SC (P)" she wrote.

Many people who are criticising are not digesting this and are questioning Sai Pallavi's clear stand on Indian Army.

Meanwhile, Amaran, which is slated to release this Thursday, is facing the heat of this trend against Sai Pallavi on the internet. It has to be seen how the Fidaa actress respond to this backlash.
