For a couple of days, the ticket pricing debate has been going on in the film circles. After producers like Naga Vamshi and SKN shared their views over the cinema being the cheapest or the most affordable form of entertainment, the debate about dynamic pricing is taking center stage.

It is true that ticket prices in the Telugu states are lower than in other big cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, and others. In most of these cities, ticket pricing varies on weekdays and weekends. Dynamic pricing is also applicable based on the film's budget.

However, there is an opinion that such a strategy should be implemented in the Telugu states as well. But, it may not be a reality anytime soon because there will be a lot of opposition from the public. For instance, in Telangana, the maximum price for a ticket is 295 rupees, which is high from the audience's point of view. Moreover, the viewers are not willing to spend the same for all the films except they are RRR, Baahubali, or any film of that scale, for that matter.

Even when the ticket price is fixed at around 112 rupees or 95 rupees, the audiences do not turn up at theatres, which shows reduced interest in watching the films in theatres. The producers must understand this reality rather than rooting for hiked ticket prices, without a reason.

Telugu film industry is already struggling to solve the issue related to the OTT platforms. With the advent of OTTs, the audiences stopped coming to theatres and to tackle this challenge, if the producers hike the prices of tickets, it is just another step towards preventing people from coming to theatres.

With Powerstar Pawan Kalyan as the deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, the film industry might go all out to convince him for the dynamic pricing but it is not a wise move, given the current situation of the industry.
