A Telugu song has made history by winning the Best Original Song category at the Academy Awards. The song, Naatu Naatu, was composed by MM Keeravani and written by Chandrabose for the film RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli. Naatu Naatu beat out tough competition from other nominees, including Applause from Tell It Like a Woman, Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick, Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and This Is a Life from Everything Everywhere All at Once. After winning the award, Keeravani gave a special rendition of the song on stage, while Chandrabose greeted the audience with a proud "Namaste".
