Last year, actor Suriya was invited to become a member of The Academy. People who join the Academy will be eligible to vote in the Academy Awards aka The Oscars. Suriya accepted the invitation and registered his votes for the first time this year. He is the first Tamil actor to get an Academy membership.
Suriya took to social media to announce his voting. "Voting done! #Oscars95 @TheAcademy," he wrote on his social media handles. He shared a screenshot of his membership page which read, "95th Oscar Finals, Voting Complete."
However, Suriya didn't mention who he cast his vote for. It has to be nominated that three Indian films are in Oscars contention this year. They are RRR (Best Original Song - Naatu Naatu), The Elephant Whisperers (Best Documentary Short) and All That Breathes (Best Documentary Feature).
Along with Suriya, the likes of Kajol, Pan Nalin, Reema Kagti, Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas had been invited for the Oscar membership last year.
On the work front, Suriya is currently busy shooting Suriya 42, which is being directed by Siva. It is slated for worldwide release later this year.
