Superstar Rajinikanth is known for his collaborations with young and unconventional directors in recent years. After working with Pa. Ranjith, Karthik Subbaraj, and Nelson Dilipkumar, he is set to team up with TJ Gnanavel for his next film, tentatively titled Thalaivar 170.

Gnanavel, who previously directed the critically acclaimed film Jai Bhim with Suriya, will be helming the project. The movie will be produced by Lyca Productions, with whom Rajinikanth collaborated on the 2020 film Darbar.

The announcement of Thalaivar 170 was made by Lyca Productions on the occasion of their producer Subaskaran's birthday. Anirudh Ravichander will be composing the music for the film, and further details about the cast and crew are expected to be revealed soon.
