Mandrem, a secluded yet serene village in Goa, sends notice to popular Telugu actor Nagarjuna, to stop construction of his holiday home in the village. Amit Sawant, the sarpanch of Mandrem, in Pernem, North Goa, issued this notice to Nag under the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994. Nagarjuna was sent a “Stop Work” notice on Wednesday for taking up excavation and construction in Ashvewada.
One of the allegations is that the work was taken up without mentioning any details on a board in the area. As per the notice, the respondent has been involved in illegal activity in the village jurisdiction.
“Whereas it is noticed by this Panchayat that you are doing alleged illegal construction and excavation, in property bearing survey no. 211/2 B at Ashvewada, Mandrem, village without obtaining prior permission from the competent authorities and this Panchayat,” the notice read.
