Although, our taste is not restricted to our own cinema. Many films have made it bigger than the original in Telugu states. And a recent one to be added to that list is the Kannada film 'Kantara'. Written & directed by Rakshit Shetty, the film has a typical mainstream plot with elements of the nativity that elevates the aesthetic aspect of the film.
The film was dubbed and released in Telugu due to its huge reception and the audience owing it like never before. With 'Megastar' Chiranjeevi's 'Godfather' still running in theatres, we had two new releases, 'Boyfriend for Hire', 'Crazy Fellow', along with 'Kantara'. Needless to say, both of them couldn't make it, while 'Kantara' made a whopping Rs. 4+ CR in just a couple of days of its release. There were houseful boards at almost all the released theatres, proving the taste of Telugu audience for a good cinema!
