Fahadh Faasil is one of the highly talented actors in Malayalam cinema. He has been delivering many super hits in the Malayalam film industry for the last few years. However, his career has been put in a weird situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fahadh's last theatrical release as a solo hero was the 2020 film Trance. After that, he came up with four films as a solo hero and all of them had a direct release on OTT platforms.
C U Soon, Irul, Joji and Malik were the films which skipped theatrical releases and opted for direct digital release. All those films received acclaim from critics as well as the audiences. Meanwhile, exhibitors in Kerala were highly disappointed by this move and they alleged that Fafa ruined a business of more than 100 crores by releasing his films directly on OTT platforms.
His upcoming film Malayankunju also opted for a direct OTT release. The only theatrical releases Fahadh had after the pandemic are Pushpa and Vikram. In both films, he was not the lead hero. So, exhibitors didn't have a chance to ban those films in theatres.
However, they are still upset with the actor and his decision of releasing films directly on OTT platforms. On the flip side, Fahadh seems to be not paying attention to these issues and is only focussing on his films.
