Legendary singer SP Balabrahmanyam was conferred with the prestigious award Padma Vibhushan posthumously. His son SP Charan received the award earlier this week from the President of India, Ramnath Kovind. Charan said that there were a lot of mixed emotions on receiving this honour. On one side, he and his family are happy that the government has recognized his father's works and conferred with such a great honour. On the other side, they are sad that SPB passed away before receiving this huge award.
In an interaction with The Times of India, Charan revealed that his father never said no to any award. He said that SPB won the most awards from the government, right from his first National Award for the film Shankara Bharanam to his Padma Bhushan. Apparently, Balu was proud of his achievements and always thought that awards will motivate artists to do better.
"And what better honour can there be than one of the highest recognitions in the nation itself! He would have definitely been happy to have received this," said Charan. He thanked all the fans who continue to shower their love upon his father. "I am really grateful that people are still celebrating his music, and I hope and pray that he and his music live on forever this way through generations," Charan further added.
