"Aayirathil Oruvan" is a 2010 released action-adventure film starring Karthi. Directed by Selvaraghavan, Andrea Jeremiah and Reemma Sen played the female lead in the film which is based on the fall of the Chola dynasty and the rise of the Pandya dynasty. After a decade of the release, director Selvaraghavan has revealed a shocking and interesting thing about the film.

The director revealed that the actual budget of the film was only 18 crores but they intentionally promoted it as 32 crores just to call it a mega-budget film. He added that he learnt a lesson after the outcome of the film as the film despite crossing the actual budget, still ended up as an average grosser.

"The actual budget of #aayirathiloruvan was 18 crores. But we decided to announce it as a 32 crore film to hype it as a mega-budget film. What stupidity! Even though the film managed to collect the actual budget it was regarded as average! Learnt not to lie whatever the odds are!" Tweeted Selvaraghavan. R Ravindran under Dream Valley Corporation bankrolled this project which got released on 14th January 2010. The film also got dubbed in Telugu with the title 'Yuganiki Okkadu'.
