The combination of director AR Muragadoss and actor Thalapathy Vijay has a blockbuster history in Kollywood. The duo had worked together for the films Thuppakki, Kaththi, and Sarkar and all of them became highly successful at the box office. However, Murugadoss faced legal trouble with his last outing with Vijay, Sarkar. One of the scenes in this movie criticizes the free schemes introduced by the government.
The then government of Tamil Nadu, AIDMK, was not happy with the sequence and filed a case against the director. After almost three years, Murugadoss is finally relieved from the case as Madras High Court dissolved the case stating that once a film is censored, it can't have complained about scenes or dialogues. Sarkar featured Keerthy Suresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in the other pivotal roles.
This political satire was a big hit at the box office. Vijay and Murugadoss were supposed to team up for another film but that didn't happen. As of now, the actor is busy with Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast while Murugadoss is yet to announce his next project.
