Hyderabad-based actress Varshini Sounderajan made her acting debut as a lead heroine with the 2014 anthology film Chandamama Kathalu. After that, she acted in other films like Kai Raja Kai and Lovers. However, she shot to fame with the 2017 web series Pelli Gola.

After that, Varshini got more popularity with her television stint in the shows like Dhee and Pataas 2. Now, the young actress has bagged a key role in Gunasekhar's upcoming directorial film Shaakuntalam. She also started shooting for the movie.

Varshini first got a call from the team to give a look test. Once he was impressed with the look test, Gunasekhar signed her for the project. Varshini says that it is a fantastic experience to work with a senior director like Gunasekhar.

She also acted alongside the film's lead actress Samantha Akkineni, in one of the scenes recently. Varshini said that her role will be layered and will feature in multiple getups.
