Mani Ratnam's Sakhi heroine Shalini needs no introduction. She is also the wife of star hero Ajith. There are reports that Shalini is going to mark her second innings soon. She was last seen in Priyadha Varam Vendum that released in 2001. After marriage to Ajith, Shalini quit films. But, she is said to be acting in Mani Ratnam's dream project Ponniyin Selvan. As per the latest reports in the filmnagar, Shalini has given her nod for a beautiful role in the film.

She is said to be playing a full-length role in the film and has already started the shoot for the movie in Ramoji Film City. Ponniyin Selvan has a huge star cast including Jayam Ravi, Aravind Swamy, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Amitabh Bachchan, and others. The film is based on the novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy. More details about the film will come out soon.
