Mega hero Vaishnav Tej's debut film 'Uppena' is more likely see the light in theatres, after the makers declined many OTT offers. But, there is still no clarity over release date as the movie is getting a makeover currently. Initially, Mythri Movie Makers have planned to release it for Pongal but it was later pushed to summer. But, the film is unlikely to come out in summer as well. Directed by Bucchi Babu Sana, the film has Krithi Shetty as a leading lady and Vijay Sethupathi in a prominent role.
Even though it is pending for release since a long time, the craze of the film has not diminished. At one point of time, the producers have decided to sell the film to an OTT platform for a decent price. But, they'd a change of heart and finalized to release the film only in theatres. Until now, the makers have invested a massive Rs 30 Cr on the film and they're confident about earning up to Rs 50 Cr through theatrical release. Now that no streaming service will offer 50 Cr, producers want to release Uppena only in theatres - which is expected to happed in later part of 2021.
