Coronavirus pandemic has disrupted the systematic functioning of the movie industry. For almost seven and a half months, the theatres remained shut down. Recently, the government of Telangana has given permission for the reopening of theatres but there is no official clarity on theatres' operations post the lockdown. However, the movie buffs are up for a shock to learn that five movie theatres were permanently closed in Hyderabad city.

The following is the list of five theatres that were shut down permanently.

Galaxy theatre - Tolichowki
Sri Rama theatre - Bahadurrpura
Shanti theatre - Narayanaguda
Amba theatre - Mehdipatnam
Sree Mayuri - RTC X Roads

Shanti theatre at Narayanaguda has been converted into a godown by Amazon company. The management of other theatres are also in plans to convert the places into other businesses.
