World-famous cricketer Muthaiah Muralidharan's biopic is on cards already. Vijay Setupathi is on board to play the lead role in the movie. Titled 800, the movie is going to be made in multiple languages. The makers released the first look of the movie recently and it has garnered a positive response from everyone. However, there is a huge backlash from a section of the Tamil community regarding Vijay Setupathi picking up this project.

After multiple filmmakers making an appeal to Vijay not to do the project, veteran director Bharathi Raja also joined his voice to the protest regarding the same. Bharathi Raja too appealed Vijay Setupathi to not do the film.

Tamilians could not digest the fact that a Tamil hero plays the biopic of a star cricketer from Srilanka, where Tamilians are constantly subjected to discrimination. A lot of tweets surfaced online with the hashtag, #ShameOnVijaySetupathi.

Vijay Setupathi did not give any official statement regarding the same so far.
