Popular producer Surya Devara Naga Vamsi bought the Telugu remake rights of the recent Malayalam hit Ayyappanum Koshiyum. Earlier, the likes of Ravi Teja, Rana Daggubati and Balakrishna were considered for the lead role in it. But now, it seems that Pawan Kalyan is interested in doing the film. The tinsel town sources claim that Tholi Prema fame Venky Atluri will direct this movie.

Venky is currently directing the film Rang De with Nithiin and Keerthy Suresh. Incidentally, even this film is being bankrolled by Surya Devara Naga Vamsi. Apparently, Vamsi felt that Venky will be the right choice to direct this remake with Pawan. The shoot of this film will begin once Venky gets done with Rang De.

The makers are considering Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi for the other lead role. The original version featured Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon in the lead roles. The movie was directed by Sachy.
