The impact of the Corona crisis on the film industry is huge. Theaters are closed and there is no sign of reopening. The shoots are on hold for three-four months and filmmakers are not ready to go to the shoots because of the rising number of Covid-19 cases. While the producers of small films are opting for direct OTT release, the producers of medium and high budget films are not ready for OTT release.
On the other hand, there is talk going on in the film circles that the buyers who paid hefty advances to the producers for the upcoming films are demanding them to return their advances. The majority of them are telling the producers that they can't wait for months together as their interests are increasing.
They are not ready to release the films now as they do not know the situation of theatrical collections. So, they are asking for a refund of their money. Some of them are saying that they will release the films only on a commission basis. There is a talk that all the ready to release films are facing the same issue and the producers are worried about the developments.
