With the closure of movie theaters for the last three months, the popularity of OTT platforms increased. With no other option left, some producers are going for the direct OTT release to recover their investment. Debates are happening on the topic of Theaters Vs OTT platforms. Directors like RGV opined that digital platforms might dominate the future of the movie exhibition industry. At this juncture, director Shankar made interesting comments.

Shankar said that he is just wondering what kind of movies he should make if OTT becomes the future. He opined that OTT will not give the experience of theater viewing. He said that whether it is either OTT or theaters his movies will entertain all sections of the audience. He added that OTT releases are good as far as the producers recover their investment.

On the professional front, Shankar is working on 'Indian 2'(Bharateeyudu 2) starring Kamal Haasan. Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha are playing the other crucial roles in the movie. Anirudh Ravishankar is scoring the music. The movie is bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
