Nagarjuna Akkineni wanted to do a bilingual for a long time. After Oopiri, he got a lot of offers which also includes a project from Dhanush. Dhanush wants to direct Nagarjuna in a historical film tentatively titled Rudra. The makers even planned the shoot but cancelled the project in the last minute owing to the issues regarding budget. 

During the lock down, Dhanush re-worked on the script and is now planning to do it in a less budget. Dhanush initiated the talks with Nagarjuna already and the senior hero too responded positively to Dhanush. 

The project might get announced by the end of the year. After the both finishing up their prior commitments, they might take a final decision on the same. 

Sharath Kumar, SJ Surya, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aravind Swamy, and Anu Emmanuel are also said to be a part of the film.
