OTT release was never considered an option by the filmmakers in the past but the lockdown restrictions have changed the mindset. Several makers are getting ready for OTT release. Not just small budget films but big-ticket films are also going in an OTT way. There were reports in the recent past that Akshay Kumar's new film 'Laxmmi Bomb' is set for OTT direct release.
The latest reports from the Bollywood media reveal that a leading OTT player closed the deal for a whopping Rs.125 crore for 'Laxmmi Bomb' direct release. Till now, this is the highest amount for the digital rights of an Indian film. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar is going to achieve a rare distinction of becoming the first-star hero to go for direct OTT release.
The movie is horror-comedy, a remake of Telugu super hit 'Kanchana'. Kiara Advani is the heroine of the film. Lawrence directed the remake. As the movie minted money in Tamil and Telugu, it is expected to be successful in Hindi as well.
