The government of Andhra Pradesh and TTD decided to sell some of the assets belonging to the Devasthanam trust. The move received a lot of criticism since the time the news came out. The opposition party members, intellectuals, media, and the public found fault with the same. Even Janasena party leader Pawan Kalyan also raised voice against the same. Pawan Kalyan urged the government not to take the step as it hurt the sentiments of the devotees.
While the government claims that the previous governments did the same, many seem to be objecting to the same. Pawan Kalyan posted a series of tweets this morning revealing his stand.
"All Hindu Religious Institutions and Organizations look upto TTD. As the largest and one of the richest religious institutions of the world, TTD must set a good example and best practices for others to follow. If TTD sells away land, this shall set a bad precedent and even other Hindu Religious institutions might imitate it. This shall also hurt the sentiments and beliefs of millions of devotees. Hurting the devotee’s sentiment & belief and risking the economic opportunities for the state in the future. It would be a grave mistake if the YCP led state government lets TTD sell off the lands in the prevailing circumstances." posted Pawan Kalyan on his Twitter.
Now, Manchu Manoj also joined Pawan Kalyan. Manchu Manoj demands an explanation from the TTD board, explaining the reason behind the latest move. Manoj who claims to be from Tirupathi demands the board to tell why they need to do this now.
Many more people are joining their voices against the decision.
