Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan's Dabangg 3 has opened to huge expectations at the box-office on 20th December. The film made by dance choreographer turned filmmaker Prabhu Deva has delivered 24.5 Cr on Friday. But, it is much lesser for Salman's movie. Yes, going by the day-1 collections of Salman's previous films, it is certainly a very low figure for Dabangg-3 and not matching the star potential of Salman Khan.
What has affected the first-day numbers of Salman Khan's movie? The popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Saturday tweeted "#Dabangg3 hits ? 20 cr+ on Day 1 thanks largely to #SalmanKhan’s star power... Day 1 biz would’ve easily been much, much higher had it not been for the protests... Resultantly, biz kept fluctuating throughout the day... A substantial sum was lost due to this reason."
The continuous agitations and protests against CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) in North and Eastern India have impacted box-office numbers of Dabangg-3 on the first day. His previous films Ek Tha Tiger, Kick, Bhajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo earned 32.93 Cr, 26.40 Cr, 27.25 Cr, 36.45 Cr & 40.35 Cr respectively.
