Tollywood's noted yesteryear actress and filmmaker Vijaya Nirmala (73) has passed away at Continental Hospitals in Hyderabad. She was born on 20 February 1946 in Tamil Nadu. She entered into films at the age of 7 with Panduranga Mahatyam, and later went on to act in more than 200 movies in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam languages.
She was seen in many super hit Telugu movies like Meena, Alluri Seetharama Raju, Poola Rangadu, Asadhyudu, Bangaru Gajulu, Mosagallaku Mosagadu and many more. But she will be dearly remembered for her unforgettable work as a director, who entered the Guinness Book of Records as the female director of the most films (44) in 2002. She also received the prestigious Raghupathi Venkaiah Award for her contributions to Telugu cinema.
Vijaya Nirmala, who is suffering from the illness from last few days, has been admitted to Continental Hospitals in Gachibowli. It's learned that she had breathed her last on Wednesday midnight after she's hit by a heart stroke. Vijaya Nirmala also entered the small screen Pelli Kanuka. Later, she floated her own banner 'Vijaya Krishna Movies' and bankrolled 15 films.
The death news of Vijaya Nirmala, who's survived by husband Superstar Krishna & son Naresh, has left a huge void and entire Telugu film industry mourns her departure.
