Despite the bad ratings, poor word of mouth and tight competition from other big releases (Petta, F2 and NTR Kathanayakudu), Ram Charan-Boyapati Srinu’s Vinaya Vidheya Rama has set the cash registers ringing in its first week of release.
It looks like the mass action film has made the best use of Pongal season and managed to rake in 50 Crore share in the first week from both the Telugu states. Surprising isn’t it? The film directed by Boyapati has failed to live up to the mark, according to the critics but at the box-office, the film has overcome all that and collected a worldwide gross of 82 Crore in the first week. In AP and Telangana, VVR has minted around 70 Crores. Throughout the Pongal season, the film stood strong at the box office and it apparently proves the potential of Ram Charan among masses.
The box-office figures in Nizam are estimated to be 12 Crores, while VVR collected around 27 Cr and 11 Cr share from Andhra and Ceded respectively. Including the overseas and rest of the states, the first-week box-office figures mount to 56 Crores. Now that the Pongal holidays are over, the BO numbers are likely to see a big drop. Let us wait and see how the coming week is going to be for VVR.
