The much-hyped "2.0" of Rajnikanth and Shankar has received only a lukewarm response from the viewers. The film was made with a huge budget of Rs 550 Cr (as declared by the makers).
The Telugu rights were bought at a mammoth Rs 70 Cr. It is a known fact that no Rajnikanth's film made more than Rs 30 Cr in Telugu so far. So buying 2.0 for Rs 70 Cr proved to be the height of gambling. Still, the film made a share of Rs 50 Cr, the highest ever collections for a Rajni's film in Telugu. But still, a Rs 15 to Rs 20 Cr loss is clearly expected. Adding to that, the run has almost stopped. The new films like NTR Biopic are hitting the screens shortly.
Surprisingly, the Tamil version of 2.0 has faced a bigger loss. Only the Hindi version, due to Akshay Kumar factor has run well making a break even.
On a whole, 2.0 can be termed as an average to below average grosser at the box office.
