When AP CM Chandra Babu Naidu keeps on claiming that he is keeping Andhra Pradesh’s new capital Amaravathi on the world map, rivals mock fun of him and opposition leaders attack him for making tall claims. However, it is coming out that Amaravathi will soon see Chinese theatres.
According to sources, Chinese delegates showed interest in establishing theatres in Amaravathi. A six-member Chinese delegation representing China Art Association (Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports) visited Dhyana Buddha Sculpture and Maha Stupa at Amaravathi and later discussed heritage sites suitable for film shooting.
E. Sivanagi Reddy, Chief Executive Officer, Cultural Centre of Vijayawada, explained the officials the importance of 125 ft Buddha statue and the history of Amaravathi. He also told them that Huen Tsang visited Dhanyakataka-Amaravathi in 640AD and learnt Abhidhamma Pitaka, the psychoanalysis of Buddha’s teachings for a year.
The 11 members Chinese delegation met Ambica Krishna, chairman of AP Film Development Corporation and discussed on the heritage sites suitable for film shooting. They also showed interest in cooperation in the production of movies in both countries and also revealed their interest in the construction of movie theatres in Andhra Pradesh.
